Advocacy Overview
At the Building Industry Association of the Big Bend, advocacy is one of the most important ways we serve our members.
Through BIABB, members gain access to valuable conversations with legislators, city leaders, and building officials whose decisions directly impact the building industry. We work to keep our members informed, connected, and represented on the issues that affect housing, development, permitting, regulations, workforce needs, and the overall business climate in our region.
A key part of this effort is our monthly Governmental Affairs meetings, where members have the opportunity to hear from and engage with local officials, policymakers, and industry leaders. These meetings help members stay current on important updates, ask questions, share concerns, and better understand how local and state decisions may affect their businesses.
Our advocacy efforts are designed to give members:
- Access to decision-makers
- Insight into policy and regulatory issues
- Opportunities to stay informed on local and state matters
- A stronger collective voice for the building industry
- Meaningful connections that support business growth and industry progress
As a local association connected to the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), BIABB membership also provides the benefit of advocacy support at multiple levels. This 3-in-1 membership structure helps ensure our industry has representation not only locally, but also across the state and nationally.
Advocacy at BIABB is about more than policy — it is about protecting the future of the building industry, strengthening relationships with community leaders, and making sure our members have a seat at the table.
